Dr Gokul Tamilarasan

Dr Gokul Tamilarasan (MBBS, FRACP) trained as a junior medical officer and physician trainee at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH), before completing his Gastroenterology training at RPAH and Concord Repatriation General Hospital (CRGH). Dr Tamilarasan then travelled to London to complete an international clinical research fellowship at the world-renowned Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, focusing on inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). He holds a staff specialist appointment at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, where he attends both the general gastroenterology, and inflammatory bowel disease clinics. Gokul is also currently continuing his research in IBD as a PhD candidate at the University of Sydney, examining the role of various diagnostic modalities and artificial intelligence.

Gokul has a keen interest in teaching and currently holds a Clinical Associate Lecturer title with the University of Sydney. He has also been heavily involved in the training of the next generation of specialists, having recently worked as the Clinical Superintendent (Medicine) at RPA where he oversaw the education and training program for medical registrars.

Gokul prides himself on being extremely personable. He enjoys meeting and working with people and is known for his clear communication style and great listening skills.  Gokul has lived in the inner west for nearly 10 years and in his free time he can be found discovering local cafes, markets and parks with his wife and young family!
